Lakefront and Luxury Homes in Lake Arrowhead - Discover Arrowhead's
Most Affluent Waterfront Neighborhoods
Since
the 1930's, Lake Arrowhead has remained a treasured resort of the rich and
famous. It's rustic and majestic landscapes, waterfront chateaus, and close proximity
to Los Angeles make it an ideal vacation hideaway for many, including
the wealthy. Below you will find information on lakefront and luxury homes in Lake
Arrowhead. Contact the Whieldon Group for additional information.
Exclusive Lakefront Homes in Lake Arrowhead
Many of Arrowhead's most lavish properties reside, naturally, on the
lake itself. Most of these neighborhoods are gated and fiercely private, which enhances their mystique.
Many home buyers prefer to become aquainted with the various lakefront and luxury communities before purchasing. For your convenience, the Whieldon Group has compiled a list of every lakefront neighborhood and its defining characteristics below. The list begins geographically at the Lake Arrowhead Village shopping center and proceeds around Lake Arrowhead counterclockwise.
Village Cove
Located in the heart of Village Bay is Village Cove. These are owner-built luxury townhomes with an HOA.
The land was owned originally by a group of doctors. The contracts were eventually rescinded, and over twenty of the lots were sold off individually in the 1980's.
The beach is private, for use by Village Cove owners only, although any Arrowhead Woods homeowner may walk through the beach via the ALA lake trail.
HOA: Yes.
O
rchard Bay/John Muir
Situated alongside the apple trees of orchard bay in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Lake Arrowhead, the charming lakefront cottages along John Muir street face west and look onto the Lake Arrowhead Village.
HOA: No.
Palisades
Many of the waterfront luxury homes along the twisty Palisades bluffs enjoy panoramic water views of Emerald Bay, Shelter Cove, Winter Harbor, Village Bay, North Bay and beyond.
HOA: No.
North Shore Estates
Along with Shelter Cove, North Shore is considered one of the finest luxury neighborhoods on the east shoreline. The area was gated and an HOA formed in the 1990's. Sheltered by a canopy of ancient Cedars, Pines and Oak trees, many landmark lakefront estates reside behind the gates and overlook the sublime Winter Harbor and Shelter Cove.
HOA: Yes
Shelter Cove
Like North Shore Estates, a Shelter Cove HOA was formed in the 1990's. Many of the luxury homes in Shelter Cove were originally built in the 1940's. Sprawling lawns surround lakeside tennis courts and custom dockhouses. Many "old Hollywood" luminaries retreated to their Arrowhead lakefront chateaus in Shelter Cove.
HOA: Yes

North Shore
Although it's not gated, the sunny North Shore remains a popular neighborhood, thanks in no small part to its phenomenal lakeviews and proximity to the Tavern Bay Beach Club and the UCLA Conference Center. Many of the lakefront homes on the North Shore sit majestically atop the cliffside.
HOA: No.
West Shore
Developed in the early 1960's and nestled in the tranquil and balmy North Bay, the waterfront estates
on West Shore Rd. offer homeowners vast lakeviews and a nice compromise between sun and shade.
HOA: No.

Hamiltair
Thomas Foster Hamilton (July 28, 1894 – August 12, 1969) was a pioneering aviator and the founder of the Hamilton Standard Company. Since 1930, Hamilton Standard (now Hamilton Sundstrand) was involved with revolutionizing propulsion technology of propeller-driven aircraft, prior to World War II. The introduction of Frank Caldwell’s variable-pitch propeller made Hamilton Standard one of the leading aerospace companies of today.
Hamilton owned a 30 acre ranch in what is now known as Hamiltair. After Hamilton's death in 1969 his family subdivided the ranch into smaller parcels and sold them to interested buyers. Back then, one could purchase a lakefront lot for $25,000. Those same lots would sell today for upwards of a million dollars. Hamiltair and its younger counterpart Point Hamiltair make up a peninsula of some of the most coveted luxury property on the Lake Arrowhead shoreline.
Old Hamiltair occupies a healthy portion of the shady, leeward side of the peninsula. Stately chateaus dwell in heavily wooded and seemingly boundless yards that wander off into the lake.
HOA: Yes

Point Hamiltair
Occupying the remaining leeward and windward sides of the peninsula, is Point Hamiltair. Sold about ten years after the original Hamiltair properties, the Point Hamiltair
neighborhood may be thought of as the Beverly Hills of Lake Arrowhead.
The world class Arrowhead lakefront estate pictured here, to the right, was designed by reknowned architect David Abbott and recently sold for $6,000,000.
HOA: Yes
Meadow Shores
One of the most recent areas of Lake Arrowhead to be developed is Meadow Shores. Previously known as a woodsy backdrop in films like "The Yearling," the marshy property was eventually dredged to allow for a deeper, more desirable bay. After much debate, it was decided that the dirt be relocated to what is now Peninsula Park, by the marina.
Moreland Development Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of what used to be Union 76, tried unsuccessfully in the early 1980's to sell the lots. The lots were eventually sold at a Kennedy Wilson auction, and the area took off shortly thereafter.
The Meadow Shores area is characterized by its contemporary luxury feel and calm waters. Available vacant lots begin from the $700,000's.
HOA: Yes
Rainbow Point
Established in the 1980's on Lake Arrowhead's southwest shore, property on the prestigious headland called Rainbow Point remains a sought-after commodity. Posh waterfront castles with vast lake views align the towering cragside.
HOA: Yes
Rainbow Bay
Sharing the other side of the peninsula with Rainbow Point, is Rainbow Bay. Some of the most
expensive real estate on the lake is located in Rainbow Bay. A private, quiet beach adds to the allure.
HOA: Yes
Totem Pole Point
Like so many areas of the lake, Totem Pole Point was a favorite filming location of the old Hollywood studios. Owing its moniker to remnants left behind from one such film, Totem Pole Point now represents a pinnacle in Lake Arrowhead luxury. The most expensive luxury home ever sold in the history of Lake Arrowhead is located in Totem Pole Point.
HOA: Yes
Many of the homes in these neigborhoods feature some of the finest luxuries money can buy,
including indoor swimming pools, shooting ranges, movie theatres with state-of-the-art
audio, tennis courts, astronomical observatories, bowling alleys and ice skating rinks. In addition, most of these properties offer adjoining
docks and private beaches for the discerning buyer seeking refuge.
Other Luxury Homes
The exclusive gated community of Cedar Ridge is also an extravagant
neighborhood with glorious views of the lake. Cedar Ridge possesses some
of the finest real estate in Lake Arrowhead.
Also worth mentioning is the Country Club area. Many luxury homes in Lake Arrowhead can
be found around this beautiful 18-hole golf course.
Currently, Lake Arrowhead MLS
listings reflect that these homes can fetch anywhere from $1,000,000
- $7,000,000. Contact the Whieldon Group if you are interested in viewing homes, or investing in any of these neighborhoods.
